How to get to the Physikalisches Institut Heidelberg
By Public Transport to the Institute
-
At the main station (northern exit) buy a ticket for Groß-Wabe Heidelberg
(simply a standard ticket, 1 Euro) and take tram (OEG line 5) or bus (number 32, 33 or 34)
to Bismarckplatz.
-
Get off at Bismarckplatz and walk over the bridge to the
Brückenstraße. The institute is
a 5 min walk from the bus / tram stop Bismarckplatz.
-
After the bridge, take the second street to the right (Ladenburger
Straße). Continue straight ahead ascending the hill until
building number 12.
- For maps, timetables and prices consult the local public transport organization
Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Neckar.
By car:
Please make sure that there is parking at your hotel. Legal
free parking is virtually not existent in the city center of
Heidelberg (and neither at the Physikalisches Institut).
- Take autobahn A5 coming from north or south until Kreuz Heidelberg.
- There, exit direction Heidelberg (A656).
- Go straight until the end of the autobahn.
- Turn left and follow B37 direction Eberbach.
- On B37 along the Neckar pass under a bridge and 1km later under a
second bridge.
- 300m after the second bridge turn right and cross the Neckar on the bridge
you just passed.
- Right after the bridge turn right (direction Eberbach again).
- Take the second street to the left (Albert-Überle-Straße) and
go all the way up the mountain follwing the serpentine.
- At the summit the street hits the Philosophenweg. Turn left and go back
down the mountain. After about 200m the institute is to the left
(Philosophenweg 12). Try to enter the parking lot to the left.
- A word of warning: Parking on Albert-Überle-Straße is
basically allowed, however only for 2 hours (using a Parkscheibe) during the
week. Also, check for hidden no-parking-signs. It is almost impossible to find
free and legal parking places anywhere near the institute.
